Founded by Dr. Othman Al-Helli, a senior GP with firsthand experience in the complexities of medical finance, and Lucas Gancarz, an experienced accountant specializing in healthcare, DrAccountant was created to bridge this essential gap. Dr. Othman understood the unique pressures doctors face, balancing multiple income streams, navigating tax complexities, and planning for long-term financial security. This personal challenge sparked a vision—to build a financial service exclusively for healthcare professionals, by experts who genuinely understand their world.
As a GP, Dr. Othman experienced the stress of managing NHS pensions, private practice income, and taxes while balancing a demanding medical career. Realizing the broader need among his peers, he partnered with Lucas, whose expertise in medical financial advising and passion for simplifying complex medical finances aligned perfectly with this mission.
Together, they crafted DrAccountant to provide comprehensive, tailored financial solutions that ease the financial burdens of medical professionals and empower them to thrive in their careers.

As a senior GP with years of hands-on experience in healthcare, Dr. Othman has spent his career caring for patients while also navigating the unique financial challenges that healthcare professionals face. From handling complex NHS pensions to managing private practice income and tackling intricate tax regulations, he understands the demands placed on medical financial advisors. The stress of managing these financial aspects while maintaining a high standard of patient care led Dr. Othman to a pivotal realization: medical professionals need a financial partner who truly understands their distinct challenges in medical finance.
Driven to address this need, Dr. Othman took an unprecedented step—he took a sabbatical to immerse himself in finance, gaining essential knowledge and insights to manage his own financial journey with clarity and confidence. Through this experience, he recognized a larger, unmet need in the healthcare community. Determined to make a difference, he teamed up with Lucas Gancarz, a seasoned accountant with extensive expertise as a financial advisor for medical professionals, to co-found DrAccountant. Today, as CEO, Dr. Othman brings a blend of medical and financial expertise to lead the company, ensuring each service aligns with the real-life needs of healthcare practitioners.

Lucas Gancarz brings over 15 years of financial expertise to DrAccountant, alongside a deep commitment to simplifying the financial lives of healthcare professionals. As a fully qualified accountant and member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT), Lucas has built a career focused on delivering tailored, high-quality solutions to complex financial needs. His journey into the healthcare sector began when he observed that medical practitioners, including doctors and consultants, were underserved in the financial industry despite facing complex tax requirements, unique pension structures, and multiple income streams. His experience in medical finance led Lucas to specialize as a medical financial advisor, providing clear, actionable advice that has become a cornerstone of DrAccountant’s approach.
In his role as CFO and tax specialist, Lucas is responsible for developing innovative financial strategies specifically designed for healthcare professionals. His goal is not only to deliver value but also to empower clients through education, helping them optimize their finances. His approach combines precision and a commitment to client success, ensuring that every financial solution DrAccountant provides is effective, accessible, and designed to meet the distinct needs of medical professionals.
